Knife attack kills 5 in Hunan, China

A shop clerk went on a stabbing rampage in China's Hunan Province on Friday morning, killing 5 people.

The state-run Xinhua News Agency reported that a quarrel erupted between shop clerks at a food market in the capital city of Changsha.

The suspect fatally stabbed the other clerk and 4 bystanders. He was finally shot to death by police arriving at the scene.

Chinese Internet websites showed photos of what is believed to be the crime scene. Armed security police can be seen in action as victims lied down on the street.

The names of the suspect and the dead shop clerk reported through the state media indicate their possible ethnic minority Uygur origin.
