Obama to visit Japan on April 22nd, 23rd

US President Barack Obama is expected to visit Japan in April for talks with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Officials of the 2 governments are making final preparations for the US president's 2-day visit starting on April 22nd.

Obama's trip will be part of his tour of Asia and his first visit to Japan in about 3 and a half years.

This will be the 3rd meeting between Abe and Obama since September last year. Abe wants to take the opportunity to discuss North Korea, the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement and other issues with Obama.

Abe also wants to reaffirm the alliance between Japan and the United States amid the increasingly harsh security environment in East Asia.
